I am writing this blog post from my cabin whilst enjoying a peaceful sail to the port of Great Yarmouth. I have been sitting up on the bridge this morning watching the waves roll with the sun bouncing off of them. The month of March has been a very busy one as per usual, I have practically relocated across the pond to the historic city of Amsterdam. I am a huge fan of Amsterdam - the architecture, food, culture are all so refreshing. A 45 minute flight from my home town makes working out here so accessible with minimal jet lag for a change.
During this stint offshore I have been documenting snippets as part of a BBC documentary I have been asked to participate in. The BBC are starting a new pilot project based on social media platforms and have asked to feature my career journey, what an honor! It makes me so happy that the blog is still reaching a such a wide range of audiences. The short film aims to offer an insight into what I do for a job and my experiences within the energy industry so far. The footage collected for this project is a great souvenir and I will most certainly continue to footage of future offshore ventures. Check it out below!
During my time away I have also celebrated my 25th Birthday. This is the second birthday I have spent offshore and although you are away from your friends and family, the crew always show a lot of love and try to make the day as special as they possibly can. My birthday this year may not have been spent celebrating in some fancy cocktail bar but there are worst places and people to be surrounded by on your birthday. I have a lot of catching up with friend and family to complete during my time at home in April, belated birthday celebrations are not all that bad.
My bags are packed and now its time for me to say goodbye to my bunk-bed and cabin.
Until the next time Amsterdam!
